The flags go up around Langport this week in readiness for the Langport Festival, which this year runs from 18-26 June. The Festival Programme can be viewed here.
Langport Life website is showing some great new events this year – boat trips on the river, a teddy bear's picnic, poetry readings, a valuation event by Lawrence's of Crewkerne and a pop-up museum in the Town Hall, as well as a return of many regular favourites, so lots to see and do and to bring people to the area.
To kick off the start of the Langport Festival there is another Party on the Island on the evening of Friday 17 June. As the name suggests it is on the 'island' in the raised area between the library and the parade of shops. Everyone welcome; it's free. There will be local street food, cider, beer, wine and soft drinks and a live local band. Tell everyone and invite all your friends.
Also the Queen's official 90th birthday is on 11 June and it would be great if businesses could pop up any Union Flags to help the town celebrate with her Majesty!
